It is situated in the midst of a working mountain farm, so during winter months when the cattle are in the sheds, you will be able to get a real taste of working life on a farm. During the spring, lambing time, although most of the ewes lamb away from the farm on lowland pastures, there are always lambs around to see. Maybe even a pet lamb or two to feed. During the summer, mountain gathering, shearing and dipping, weather permitting, you are welcome to come and watch. We also have free range pigs which can be seen, or orders taken for fresh pork!
The inside of the house is clean and warm, and all newly renovated, and furnished to a comfortable standard. Outside however is an ongoing project, a continuation on our plans for more holiday accomodation and generally improving the farm facilities. Mainly involving renovating the original farm buildings which modern farming methods have long made redundant. Sadly, the same as most old farm buildings, they look the worst for their age, but we hope to start restoring them in the near future. These will hopefully be completed during the 2010/11 time period we have scheduled.
Outside of the house there is a large parking area, a garden which is private for you to use, a patio area and a log store.(garden area will not be ready for use until June)
Hafod Lydan Farm is also home to the campsite-Llwyn Celyn Bach featured on the links page. The campsite is further down the road, the house is totally private from the campsite. No camping is available at the house. If some of your group want to camp they will have to stay down at the campsite and use the campsite facilities.
The farmland stretches over hundreds of acres of peaceful mountainside, including a lake, ideal area for walking/relaxing. Bird and wildlife watching.
Peregrines and buzzards are a common sight, as well as so many other small birds, too numerous to mention. The woodpecker is a regular in the woods, as well as owls and jays.
